EMF and Diapers – Protect Your Child

New Wireless "Smart" Diapers

Pamper's recently released a new "smart" diaper called "Lumi" that contains a wireless activity sensor to track sleep and wetness. The Baby Activity Sensor attaches directly to the diaper and tracks 24/7.  The sensor also comes with an HD baby monitor. Both tools connect to a phone app to track baby's activity.

EMF Effects

Parents should be warned about safety considerations from EMF exposure. The World Health Organization lists radiofrequency electromagnetic fields (EMF) as a possible carcinogen (read more here). Jennifer A. Lowry, M.D. stated about wireless devices, "They're not toys. They have radiation that is emitted from them and the more we can keep it off the body and use in other ways, it will be safer." These new diaper activity sensors will be right next to a baby's reproductive system, and continuously active. Hugh S. Taylor, M.D., chair of Obstetrics and Gynecology at Yale School of Medicine states, "Until and unless we learn that radiation from portable electronic devices is safe, we should assume that it's harmful".

May not be such a wise idea to test these new wireless devices on babies.
